Senior Sammara Harris Heading to Disney College Internship Program

Cheyney University senior, Sammara K. Harris, will participate in the Disney College Program internship in January 2012.

Cheyney University Professor Shawn Murray, coordinator for Cheyney University’s Hotel, Restaurant, & Tourism Management Program, announced today that Cheyney University senior, Sammara K. Harris, will participate in the Disney College Program internship in January 2012. The program is located in Orlando, FL.
 

The Disney College Program allows students worldwide to participate in a program which advances their strengths and interests. The program provides opportunities to network with leaders, take part in personal and career development classes, and build transferable skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, guest service and effective communication.
 

The partnership fulfills Professor Murray’s goal for all students at Cheyney University have the opportunity to participate in this program through the Hotel, Restaurant, & Tourism Management department. In the past, students had to take a semester off from course work to take part in this program. According to Prof. Murray, “Ms. Harris’ enrollment in this comprehensive, experiential-learning opportunity will add an unparalleled enhancement to her academic and professional career.”
 

Ms. Harris is majoring in Hotel, Restaurant, & Tourism Management at Cheyney University. Her career interests include hotels, time shares, casinos, resort operations, entrepreneurial development, marketing and human resources. Harris states: “I am thankful to be able to participate in the Walt Disney College Program. It has been dream of mine since my freshman year. Not only will it help my personal and career development, but it also allows me the opportunity to discover and learn more about myself.”
