Spring 2014 Internship Institute Offers Workshops Every Wednesday

The Internship Institute at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania is designed to assist students in developing the skills necessary to prepare themselves for pre-professional and professional experiences.

The Institute focuses on interviewing, resume building, professional development, appropriate dress, and communication skills, as well as other topics that relate to conducting an effective job search. As a free service to Cheyney students, it is highly recommended that all students participate in the Institute in either their sophomore or junior year.

Who is eligible to participate?
Students who have sophomore, junior or senior status are eligible to participate.

How will the Internship Institute benefit me?
Students participating in the Institute are expected to develop the following skills:

•    Career Decision-Making
•    Professional Communication
•    Resume Writing
•    Interviewing

When will Internship Institute workshops be offered?
The Institute runs both in the fall and spring semesters, with students completing the required workshops over the course of the semester. The workshops are scheduled during the campus free period on Wednesday from 12:45-2:15pm. Students are required to attend a minimum number of workshops to successfully complete the Institute and earn their Certificate of Completion.

           Internship Institute Student Code

To enhance the effectiveness of the Internship Institute program, procedures and policies will be enforced to ensure ethical and professional student conduct codes will be implemented.

·         Students participating in the Internship Institute are expected to behave professionally and respectfully.

·         Students are expected to dress in appropriate attire for workshops and presentations.

·         Students are expected to apply for non-credit or academic credit internship (paid or unpaid) after completing the institute.

·         Students are responsible for reporting any internship changes or information to their faculty advisor and employer pertaining to their internship site.

How do I register for the Internship Institute?
Students can register online at or complete a registration form in the Internship Office (Burleigh Hall Room 134).
