The Cheyney University Arts and Lectures Series opens its spring 2014 season on Wednesday, February 19th with "The Spirit of Harriet Tubman" at 1:30 and 7:30 pm in the Marian Anderson Music Center Auditorium.
Actress Leslie McCurdy captivates her audience in this historic drama about Harriet Tubman with only a trunk of costumes and a barren stage as her landscape. Born into slavery in Maryland, Harriet Tubman not only ran away alone to escape slavery, but returned to the south nineteen times to lead over three hundred other slaves to freedom in the northern United States and Canada. Now "The Spirit of Harriet Tubman" returns time and again sharing her story and unable to rest as long as there are those who need guidance.
