Three Bowlers Recognized For Academic Achievement

The National Tenpin Coaches Association Announced 2011-12 All-NTCA Academic Teams as well as honorees.

Three Cheyney University bowlers were recognized for their academic achievement. Taylor Billington, Danielle Mines and Janae Silver were honored for having cumulative grade point averages above a 3.40.

Billington is a sophomore majoring in Early Childhood Education. A native of Hartford, Connecticut, Billington is a graduate of Windsor HS. She was the only CU to eclipse the 200 pin mark this season.

Mines hail from the City of Brotherly Love where she graduated from Freire Charter School. She is a sophomore majoring in Political Science. Mines led the squad averaging 164 pins per contest.

Silver, also a Philadelphia native is a graduate of Central HS. Silver is a sophomore majoring in Fashion Merchandising/Management. Silver led the team in non-split spear conversion.

This past Spring the trio were also named to the Philadelphia Inquirer At Large All Academic Squad.
