Dr. Gedeon Mudacumura, Director of the Master in Public Administration program, and Sheilah Vance, Esq., Chief of Staff and Deputy to the President, attended the American Council on Education (ACE) Institute on Internationalization at HBCUs on July 18-19 in Washington, DC. The two-day institute was designed to help HBCUs develop comprehensive internationalization efforts at their universities, including partnerships with other countries and their universities; student, faculty and staff exchanges; and curriculum enhancements. Vance received a grant from ACE to support her attendance.
Mudacumura, Vance, and other CU faculty and staff have been working on developing and enhancing international partnerships with Rwanda, Ghana and other African countries. On July 26, Dr. Steven Hughes, professor and director of the Aquaculture Research and Education Laboratory, traveled to New York City with Mudacumura and Vance to meet the new ambassador from Rwanda to the United States, Professor Mathilde Mukantabana, to further explore partnerships with Rwandan universities and the Rwandan government.
