Women's Tracks Sets Two New School Records

February 8, 2014

At the Armory in New York, freshman Khabira Crawford set the Cheyney University Indoor Track Record in the 60 m hurdles in 9.37 over the weekend at the Collegiate Invitational Meet. Earlier this season Crawford set the school record in the 55 m hurdles. Crawford teamed up with Shanavia Thomas, Bahiyra Shaw and Daivonna Williams to set the new mark of 1:44.60 in the 4 X 200 m. The quartet shattered the record by almost two seconds.

For Cheyney's Men's team, Tariq Lovelace and Kahlil Mitchell just missed qualifying for the 60 m finals.

"I watched Bahiyra (Shaw) come into her own this weekend." remarked Cheyney track coach James Williams. "She had a personal best in the 200 m open and set us up running a solid lead off leg of the relay. She did everything I asked her to do. Crawford etched her name for the second and third time in the Cheyney record book," Coach Williams added. "The most impressive thing is that this is her first-ever indoor season. Shanavia (Thomas) and Diavonna (Williams) also showed well in the relay."

Next week, the Wolves are back at the Armory in New York City to compete in the Lafayette Rider Invitational and the Millrose Games.
