Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated
On January 15, 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority became America’s FIRST Greek-letter organization established by Black college women. Her roots date back to Howard University, Washington, D.C., where the idea for formation was conceived by Ethel Hedgeman Lyle. Alpha Kappa Alpha is a sisterhood composed of over 175,000 college-trained women in the United States, the Caribbean, Europe, and Africa. Notable sorors include Rosa Parks, Coretta Scott King, Marian Anderson, Star Jones, and Sonia Sanchez.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated
On February 20, 1954, Delta Iota chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was chartered by 22 gracious ladies at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. Delta Iota celebrated 50 years of service in 2005 during the homecoming festivities.
