About the event: In celebration of the 175th anniversary of Cheyney University and the 100th anniversary of his birth, the Department of Library Services is pleased to present “A Tribute to Bayard Rustin.” This program will examine the legacy of the “invisible man” of the civil rights movement. Rustin was a master strategist and tactician, a key organizer of the historic 1963 MLK march on Washington, and it was Rustin who introduced Gandhi’s principals of nonviolent political action to the movement. About the event: In celebration of the 175th anniversary of Cheyney University, the Concert Choir will present “A Tribute to Black Composers”. The concert will feature music by Black composers from the early twentieth century to the present. While the concert is free and open to the public, voluntary donations will be accepted at the conclusion of the concert.

In addition, Traynham is the host and moderator of Roll Call with Robert Traynham, a dynamic Sunday political talk show that airs on The Comcast Network, the Mid-Atlantic region’s premier source for locally-focused television programming. A true Capitol Hill veteran with more than 15 years of political experience, Traynham has a reputation as one of the most respected and trusted media members covering Washington. In addition, he continues to teach a course in politics at George Washington University as well as writing a regular column for the Philadelphia Tribune.
