Students Catch Up With President Vital
March 29, 2012
Pictured with the University President are a group of “attractive and bright students” as declared Dr. Howard-Vital.
Although President Vital and husband, Geri Vital, have regularly eaten lunch with the students since her arrival in 2007, on Thursday, March 29, President Michelle Howard-Vital announced to the campus community a planned lunch at the University’s snack bar. As part of a new initiative to enhance current communications with the student body, President Vital thought it would be a good idea to advertise these meetings in advance so that people who might want to speak with her would know when she was in the cafeteria.
Thursday’s announcement resulted in students, staff, and faculty coming in to chat and to give the President a hug (at her request). In this regard, President Howard-Vital plans to continue these announced visits to the cafeteria and snack bar all next year to give members of the University community an opportunity to engage in informal chats with her.
Beginning in July 2012, the Office of the President will announce various meetings with members of the campus community by way of the University’s campus calendar. Such meetings will include: Lunch with the President, Student Forums, and Lunch with Student Leaders. There will also be opportunities for smaller student groups to be hosted at the Official Residence. All public appearances for President Vital will be announced in advance to give students an opportunity to informally meet and greet the President.
