President Vital Gives Keynote Address at Network of Exelon Women Event

On Wednesday, March 28, President Michelle Howard-Vital gave the keynote address to Exelon and PECO employees for Women’s History month. President Denis O’Brien of Exelon introduced President Howard-Vital and commented on the scholarships the organization has presented to Cheyney University. He stated that he hopes to continue working with the University.
The theme for the 2012 Women’s History Month celebration was “Women’s Education – Women’s Empowerment.” Mellanie Lassiter, Corporate Contributions Manager, stated that , “As the first female President of Cheyney University, Dr. Howard-Vital has a first-hand view of the challenges we face in educating young women of today to be leaders of tomorrow. She is also familiar with the challenges that working women face each day to stay on top. We welcome her to share her insights and impressions of our theme with us.”
The Women’s History event was hosted by the Network of Exelon Women (NEW) and members of PECO’s senior leadership team, including employees from Exelon Generation in Kennett Square. As one of Exelon's Employee Network Groups (ENGs), NEW serves as a resource to the corporation and its employees. The ENGs are an integral part of Exelon's diversity strategy and help to strengthen employee relations, raise diversity awareness, share knowledge, provide perspectives, promote personal growth, and serve as a forum for education, communication and professional development.
