Cheyney Womens Volleyball (4-10) dispatched Bowie (2-15) twice as the Lady Wolves rolled 3-0 and 3-0 to snap a four game skid. "I'm pleased with our progress," commented Coach Braid. "We are making great strides."
In the first match Breanna Joseph paced the Lady Wolves with 13 kills off 27 attacks. Kennetha Wallace was credited with 11 assists and led the team with 14 digs. In the first set, the Lady Wolves jumped out to a 12-3 lead before taking the set 25-11. In set two, with the game tied at 15, Cheyney was able to 6-1 and gather momentum taking the set 25-20. In the third set, Akia Harris serve gave Cheyney a 4-0 lead to start the set and the Lady Wolves would never look back going onto victory 25-13.
In the nightcap it was more of the same as the Lady Wolves kept up the pressure. Joseph again paced Cheyney with 16 kills off 31 attacks. Wallace recorded 18 assists and 12 digs. Harris also added 12 digs. The first set was a back and forth affair until the Lady Wolves rallied late. With the score tied at 20, the Lady Wolves went on a 5-1 run to earn the first set. Set two was the Akia Harris show, the freshman from Roseville, Michigan, scored the first 15 points of the set on her serve as Cheyney cruised to a 25-10 victory. Cheyney would close out the match in the third set. With the game tied at 9, the Lady Wolves scored the next four points to take control. The Lady Bulldogs battled back would never get any closer than two points the rest of the way.
