Cheyney Tabs Watson as Tennis Coach

March 26, 2014

Earlier this month Cheyney University Athletic Director Ruffin Bell appointed Ethel Watson as the University's newest tennis coach. Watson comes to Cheyney after a storied career in the sport.

As an avid tennis player and fan, the game came naturally to Watson who became a certified instructor in 1986. Since then she has taught at various private clubs, directed community programs and participated as a guest clinician for junior programs at schools and summer camps.

A Magna Cum Laude honoree and sixth in her class, Watson earned a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Lincoln University in 1983. She went on to coach the men's and women's teams at her alma mater for 10 years.

"I'm excited for the opportunity and would like to thank Mr. Bell for giving me a chance," commented Watson.
