The Cheyney University track teams kicked off the outdoor season at the Hurricane Invitational hosted by the University of Miami. The meet featured mostly Division I programs and the young Wolves were able to hold their own.

Already the school indoor record holder in the 55 H and 60 H, she set a new school record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.70. She also set personal bests in the 100 and 200 meters with times of 12.45 and 25.94 respectively.

Bahiyrah Shaw also set personal bests in the 100 and 200 meters. Shaw won her heat in the 100 with a time of 12.43. She recorded a 25.81 in the 200 m.

Adam Dolphin had a solid performance earning a spot in the finals in both the triple and long jump. The senior posted a 6.37 m in the long jump to finish eighth and a 13.29 m in the triple jump to finish in fifth.

"This is our second year coming here," commented head track coach James Williams. "It's great for the kids to get away, many of them have never left the tri-state area, so it great for Cheyney to be able to provide them this opportunity. I just glad that they took full advantage. To be so young I was impressed with the way they carried themselves. It been a rough year for this program, this is the first time I've seen some of them excited."
