Cheyney University Social Equity
The Office of Social Equity assists the University through collaborative efforts with all departments and offices in achieving its commitments to the principles of equity and affirmative action. It is the Office of Social Equity's Mission to:
- provide the Cheyney University community with the necessary guidance to advance the University's commitment to equality of opportunity;
- ensure that the practices and policies of the University are equitable and afford all members of the community with an opportunity for full participation regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, veteran status or membership in any other group protected under federal, state or local law;
- ensure that the democratic principles of equity and social justice are promoted university wide among faculty, staff, and students;
- build upon the University's intellectual strength, cultural and intellectual diversity, to foster an inclusive environment where there is civility and respect for all individuals
In furtherance of its mission, the Office of Social Equity has implemented and monitors a number of policies to promote diversity and inclusion and to eliminate discriminatory behaviors at Cheyney University . These policies include, but are not limited to:
