CU Internship Institute Presents Career Preparation Series

The Cheyney University Internship Institute program is presenting a series of Interview Preparation Workshops. Topics will include career research, resume writing, interview techniques, and dressing for interviews.  Current students, particularly sophomores and juniors, as well as seniors who are preparing for transition into the career force, are encouraged to attend the free programs. Most are held in Vaux Logan Auditorium and most are held from 6:30 to 8 pm. (check listing for times). The programs include -

Monday, November 1, 6:30 - 8 pm  Topic:  Resume, Finding an Internship with Dept. of Corrections, Hershey Food and Entertainment Company and other companies.
 

Tuesday, November 20,  6:30 - 8 pm  Topic: The Interview Process From Start to Finish, part 1
 

Monday, November 26, 6:30 - 8 pm   Topic: Researching a Company, Interview Questions to Ask

Thursday, November 29, 12:20 - 1:30 pm Topic: New York Life Insurance Company - Internships and Careers. Presented by Nr. Brent Todd and Ms. Florence Norville-Check, Financial Services Professionals 


Thursday, November 29,  6:30 - 8 pm  Topic: Dressing For The Interview and Their Eyes Were Watching You (what happens when you arrive for the interview That You DON’T SEE)
 

Monday, December 3, 6:30 - 8 pm  Topic: Resume, Finding an Internship with the Federal Department of Defense and Preparing to File for it Online
 

Tuesday, December 4,  6:30 - 8 pm  Topic: The Interview Process From Start to Finish, part 2


Wednesday, December 5, 12:30 to 2:00 pm Topic: ARAMARK Careers - A Perfect Fit. Presented by Cheyney University Alumnus Mrs. Lisa Wilson (Fordham) former Miss Cheyney State, Class of 1982.

Thursday, December 6, 6:30 - 8:00 pm  Topic: Top 10 Interview Questions You Will Be Asked to Answer

Saturday, November 8, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm Ara, Department of Defense, Vanguard and HR staff from other organizations. Mock interview sessions will be offered in Ada Georges Dining Hall. All CU students who have taken the Interview Workshop Series and are planning to interview this spring or summer for an internship are eligible to participate in the Mock Interview Sessions.   These important sessions will prepare students  for successful career searches and will provide immediate feedback on how the candidates sound and hear to prospective employers. 

Given the statistics that 70% of new hires are selected as a result of successful internships with companies,  students will  learn of internship opportunities, and the importance of applying for internships while they are in school.

Open to ALL Cheyney University students, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors are strongly encouraged to sign up and attend.  For more information, see Rev. Elisha B. Morris, Internship Coordinator in Vaux-Logan Suite 105 to sign up for this series of workshops.  If you need to apply for an Internship for next semester you may to graduate, you need to see Rev.
