At the April 24 Middle States Student Event "Remix" 68 students stopped by to voice their opinions. They completed several short surveys, signed up for focus group participation, and enjoyed great company, music, and a pizza lunch.

Cheyney’s Got Talent was held on April 22, 2013 at 8 pm in the Marian Anderson Music Center. Fourteen performers offered selections including poetry, spoken word, rapping, singing and piano.

Cheyney University’s fourth annual Entrepreneurial Business Plan Awards event is planned for 5 pm on Wednesday, April 24. Author of the book "From the Courtroom to the Kitchen” and host of the TV show “Sugar Rush,” Warren Brown, will give the keynote address at 6 PM in Marian Anderson Music Center.

Online training modules and simulations are now available to the entire campus that will assist in identifying and referring students to appropriate support services on campus.

On Monday April 1, 2013 at 6:30 PM the Cheyney University Alumni Chapter of Delaware Leadership Academy in conjunction with the Cheyney University Writing Center presents the Resume Writing Mixer. The event will be taking place in Bailey Hall room 211 on Cheyney University's main campus. This is an excellent opportunity for seniors to make connections with Cheyney University Alumni, get assistance with their Resume, and learn valuable Resume writing tips. Senior Brittney Young recently became the newest member inducted into Cheyney University's Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) Communication National Honor Society--Omega Pi Chapter in a Spring 2013 Induction Ceremony. The 3rd annual induction was held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 6 pm in Duckrey Social Sciences Building Commuters Lounge. Brittney's parents and several relatives were on hand to witness the communications major take her pledge, light her candle and sign the honorary book.

On Wednesday, March 27, actress Christina Chan will perform “Unbinding Our Lives” at Cheyney University’s Dudley Theatre at 7:30 pm. The solo-performance is presented as part of the 2012-2013 Arts and Lectures Series at Cheyney University. Chan will portray three real Chinese American women from China in the 1800's and their personal stories of being sold into slavery, prostitution, and abandonment in the streets of China, thus shattering the exotic, subservient, China doll image.

So what are you going to do when you graduate? While some of you are going directly to Grad School, the vast majority will be starting out in the job market. While a degree is nice, it’s not everything. While having good grades are nice, it is not everything. While having experience is nice, it’s not everything. So what are employers looking for? Employers are looking for the total package. That’s right, most employers want it all. Do you have a degree; check. Do you have good grades; check (sort of; crosses fingers). Do you have experience; um okay I did work at a summer camp one year. And there was that one time when I helped out my cousin at his shop.

Dr. Terry Rodenberg, retired professor of Sociology and Assistant Vice Chancellor of International Studies at Western Illinois University, will present a lecture on “The Negro Leagues and the Desegregation of Baseball - The Rest of the Story" on April 3. Rodenberg's lecture comes just before the release of the movie 42, a biographical film about the life of baseball player Jackie Robinson, the first African American to play Major League Baseball in the modern era.
