Author of the book "From the Courtroom to the Kitchen” and host of the TV show “Sugar Rush,” Warren Brown, will give the keynote address at 6 PM in Marian Anderson Music Center.

On Wednesday, March 27, actress Christina Chan will perform “Unbinding Our Lives” at Cheyney University’s Dudley Theatre at 7:30 pm. The solo-performance is presented as part of the 2012-2013 Arts and Lectures Series at Cheyney University. Chan will portray three real Chinese American women from China in the 1800's and their personal stories of being sold into slavery, prostitution, and abandonment in the streets of China, thus shattering the exotic, subservient, China doll image.

Dr. Terry Rodenberg, retired professor of Sociology and Assistant Vice Chancellor of International Studies at Western Illinois University, will present a lecture on “The Negro Leagues and the Desegregation of Baseball - The Rest of the Story" on April 3. Rodenberg's lecture comes just before the release of the movie 42, a biographical film about the life of baseball player Jackie Robinson, the first African American to play Major League Baseball in the modern era.

The series, Using the Creative Arts for Empowerment, Enrichment and Excellence, is planned to inspire and help students have successful academic and social experiences while at Cheyney University.

On Tuesday, Vice President Suzanne Phillips and Rev. Elisha Morris accompanied a group of Cheyney University students to the QVC headquarters in nearby West Chester. Not only was it an opportunity see QVC's studios and learn about the world's leading video and ecommerce retailer, the outing was also a chance to meet one of the most popular rap performers in history - 50 Cent.

CU Internship Institute Presents Career Preparation Series

The Cheyney University Internship Institute program is presenting a series of Interview Preparation Workshops. Topics will include career research, resume writing, interview techniques, and dressing for interviews. Current students, particularly sophomores and juniors, as well as seniors who are preparing for transition into the career force, are encouraged to attend the free programs. Most are held in Vaux Logan Auditorium and most are held from 6:30 to 8 pm. (check listing for times).

On Thursday, October 4, Daymond John, star of ABC’s show Shark Tank and founder of FUBU, will discuss “From Rags to Riches, Guerrilla Marketing” in Dudley Theatre at 7 pm. John will share his entrepreneurial story and how he grew a company from his home into a 30 million dollar business in 3 months. His company, FUBU (For Us By Us), was originally called "Five Urban Brothers United.”
