Playing some of their best basketball of the season, the Lady Wolves fell 53-48 to Shippensburg. Cheyney playing without its two leading scorers, were led by senior Linda Henderson. Henderson, scored a career high 14 points, along with Kyra MGriff and Nadirah Brown were playing the final game of their collegiate career in Cope Hall.

Head Coach Marilyn Stephens, Assistant Coach Dennis White and the women’s basketball team played board games with the adults at Saint Agnes Day Shelter in West Chester. Aerie DeJesus, Brooke Garrett and Alexis Peterson also assisted with the games. Team mates Kyra McGriff and Linda Henderson led songs and did arts and crafts with the pre-school children.

Shanavia Thomas paced Cheyney with 13 points and Aerie DeJesus added 12 points but it wasn’t enough as Cheyney fell to Kutztown 72-59. Thomas and DeJesus combined for 11 steals off of 25 Kutztown turnovers.

Nadirah Brown scored a season high 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds however, Cheyney fell to Mansfield in women’s basketball. Aeire DeJesus added 13 points, six assists and four steals.

Breast Cancer Awareness Comes to the PSAC

The men’s and women’s basketball teams at all 16 PSAC institutions will participate in the Breast Cncer Awareness campaign. During the month of February the PSAC will be participating in national efforts to raise awareness and money for breast cancer diagnosis and research during basketball games.

Cheyney to Sponsor Take a Kid to the Game

The Cheyney University Basketball Teams will host Take a Kid to the Game on Saturday, January 21. The Lady Wolves and Wolves will host Mansfield in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference basketball double header with the women’s game tipping off at 1:00 pm. The men’s game will follow.

The Lady Wolves fell 73-45 to Virginia State (6-4) in the final non-conference tilt for Cheyney (0-10). Cheyney was led by Aerie DeJesus and Brooke Garrett. DeJesus scored 13 points while playing all 40 minutes. Garrett added 10 points.
